...to stay in the little cabin he has stayed in every year since he was 11 during deer hunting season. It was gorgeous, the weather was perfect and there was no internet, phone service or washing machine. Of course, there was no indoor toilet either. The girls were oh so thrilled to live like Mary and Laura for a few days. :)
One day as we were driving back to the cabin after taking a hike, there were several deer in the pasture right in front of us....
We climbed a lot of rocks, hiked up mountains, played in the south fork of the Kern River that runs through the meadow in front of the cabin (Lauren and Jake even caught a little trout one day, and we roasted marshmallows. But mostly, we sat and enjoyed the weather and the peace and the beauty of God's creation!

Aw, I am glad you all had a good time! I'm not sure if I would think it was so fun to live rustically and away from my precious computer though, LOL! Sorry about the smoke but I'm glad that was the only bad part of the trip!
Perfect compound! Tell Jake we'll take him up on the offer! (They'll be looking for the moms after a few days!!) :)
That last picture of your girls is sooo cute.
