Out of the blue....

I just got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. They didn't immediately answer when I said hello so, I hung up. Then Jake called and while I was talking to him, that number came up on my call waiting again. I didn't click over. I hung up with Jake and the phone immediately rang again. Same number. I answered and shouted, "Hello!", an irritated tone in my voice.

"Cheri? Hi! It's Nate."

Man! Why am I so impatient!?! I almost missed that phone call! What if he had lost his nerve and not called back the second or third time. I could have missed it!

It was a good conversation. He seems well. He seemed excited to talk with me. He seemed happy.

DHS moved him to a different county. He's still in a group home, but a different one, obviously. He says he is in a better school. It would be hard to fathom a worse one than the one he was in in Kern County.

If you could please join me in praying that he finds a way to church. He says he isn't going because the group home doesn't go....but I know they have to let him go if he insists. Please pray that he insists.

As hard as it is to hear that little voice, I am so so glad I didn't miss that call!
